90% of the people
  1. You got a job because there’s a need to fill and you were the right person at the right time. Don’t tie your self worth to your job. Luck, timing and serendipity play a massive role in life.
  2. There is nothing called a secure job. It’s your perception that carries more weight than reality.
  3. Your fancy job title impresses no one except the ones who are easily impressed (and who may not matter in the real world except for your ego).
  4. Perfect bosses don’t exist. Expectation of a perfect boss sure does. And no two people have the exact same definition. The reality is bosses are flawed individuals, just like you. Look for their strengths and double leverage that.
  5. What got you there, may not sustain you there. Have you heard of the Peter principle? People are promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent. Please adapt as you get promoted.
  6. It’s less about who you know and more about who knows you (and who are naturally inclined to put in a good word when needed.)
